It won't install anything on your machine, and everything it deletes goes through your provider's normal trash, so mistakes are recoverable.

The complaints you'll find about Mailstrom aren't safety complaints — they're pricing complaints: no real free tier, and the $59.95/year Basic plan's 10,000-email cap pushing cluttered inboxes to the $99.95/year plan. Annoying, but a business-model gripe, not a trust issue.

If you try it and later want to cut its access, revoke it from your email provider's security settings — for Gmail, Google Account → Security → Third-party apps & services.
